It was the Winter Solstice and 75 degrees in Dallas…we should have all known something unusual was going to happen! Sweet Summer and her hubby, Andy, weren’t expecting their little boy until late January, but he made an early appearance on the 21st. I was scheduled to photograph the birth, so when I got Summer’s message saying she was in the hospital I was both excited and so nervous! I ran around in circles for a few minutes, trying to remember everything I needed. Then I managed to get myself together, and hit the road. When I came running in to the hospital labor and delivery ward, I literally met and introduced myself to the mommy-to-be as she was on her way in to the O.R. (So much for that “getting to know you lunch” we had planned!).
Andy and I were led to the O.R. a little later and in what seemed (to me) to be no time at all, Baby Hoover made his arrival at 10:58 a.m. weighing 4lbs 3oz. Because he was 34 weeks, NICU had him under their wings (these folks are like angels, aren’t they?).
He’s absolutely beautiful…we can say that about boys when they’re newborns, right?! And Mom and Dad practically bring me to tears with how they look at their “rainbow” baby. I really can’t express how much of a gift and an honor it was to be there to capture this occasion for Summer and Andy. They were so kind, and funny, and lovely…I felt like a tiny part of the family. It was amazing! More to come soon from this sweet family!
Wow, Niki. These are fantastic!
Thank you so much, Sue!! It was a pretty incredible morning.
